The only restricted category where paid search is genuinely open — if you hold the licence and complete the certification. That single fact reshapes everything downstream, and most forex plans are written as though it were not true.
Four terms used loosely in briefs, and each one changes which rules apply to you.
| Term | What it means, and what follows |
|---|---|
| Forex | Currency trading. Judged as financial services, not as trading in the abstract — which means financial promotion rules apply in every market that has them. |
| CFD | Contracts for difference. Frequently sold alongside forex and regulated more tightly. Restricted or banned for retail clients in several markets. |
| Prop firm | Funded trader programmes. Increasingly treated as its own category by both regulators and platforms, and the rules are still moving. |
| Offshore | Not a slur and not a licence. It means regulated somewhere other than where the client is. Legal in many places, and it narrows your channels considerably. |
The practical point: platforms classify you as a financial product. Every strategic decision below follows from what that classification permits in each market you want.
In gambling, a licence gets you considered. In forex it opens an entire channel that is otherwise shut.
Certified brokers can run paid search in markets like the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada — reaching people who typed a spread comparison, a platform name or a withdrawal question. That is the shortest distance between a click and a funded account in any restricted category. Offshore brokers do not get that door, and everything else has to compensate.
In most restricted categories a licence is compliance. In forex it is a channel.
Which is why the licensed premium is worth calculating rather than assuming. In the United Kingdom licensed leads cost roughly twenty percent more and produce roughly forty percent larger deposits — the full table by market is in forex lead generation.
| Then | Now | |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | Younger, chasing volatility | Broader, and comparing before signing |
| What converts | Bonus size and leverage claims | Withdrawal speed, spreads, platform quality |
| Regulation | Leverage caps arriving | Caps established, promotion rules enforced |
| Prop firms | Fringe, largely unregulated | Mainstream, and being defined as we speak |
| Education funnels | Optional extra | Often the primary route in restricted markets |
The last row is the strategic one. Where direct promotion is limited, education is not a content tactic — it is the acquisition channel, and it survives review in markets where a direct offer would not.
Full market ranges for licensed and offshore sit on the forex page.
| The assumption | What actually happens |
|---|---|
| A lead is progress | A forex lead is a contact record. Campaigns optimised toward it produce them indefinitely while deposits sit still. |
| Europe is one market | Regulatory wording, trust signals, currencies and cost of attention all differ. Seven markets means seven builds, not seven translations. |
| Cheaper markets are better value | India produces the lowest cost per lead and the smallest deposits. A plan judged on cost per lead will move budget there and quietly reduce revenue. |
The second row is where most European expansion fails. In one documented account Croatia produced 389 first-time deposits — against 388 in the United Kingdom, from a fraction of the population and at lower cost. Small markets are not small returns.
No fixed percentages, and distrust anyone offering them. The order is what holds.
The arithmetic can be checked in about a minute with the FTD calculator.
The fair question: if the thinking is available, why does anyone need an agency?
Because the thinking is public and the execution is not. How a certification application is prepared so it passes first time, how accounts are structured so one refusal does not cost the rest, how measurement is configured to survive shorter attribution windows and still report the truth, which markets are worth certifying this quarter and which have quietly tightened — none of that belongs on a public page.
Part is commercially sensitive. Part changes every few months and would be wrong by the time you read it. And part we are not handing to competitors who read this site more carefully than clients do.
What is written here orients you. What is not written here is the work.
We will walk through any of it on a call, against your account, with the reasoning attached. That version is the useful one.
